A St. Petersburg paver driveway takes a beating that inland driveways never see: salt-laden air off Tampa Bay and the Gulf, months of afternoon downpours, and the kind of humidity that keeps mold and algae alive year-round. The result is faded color, black streaking in the joints, sand washing out at the apron, and that chalky white efflorescence bloom after a wet week. Paver Rescue LLC restores and seals paver driveways across St. Pete and the rest of Pinellas County — cleaned, resanded, and sealed with professional-grade water-based sealant, minimum two coats.
What paver driveway sealing and restoration involves
Restoration is not pressure washing. Pressure washing is one step inside a four-step system, and doing it alone on a coastal driveway usually makes things worse by blasting out what little joint sand is left.
We start with repairs: lifted or sunken pavers near the garage apron and street edge get pulled, the base is reset, and cracked or broken units are swapped out. Then comes deep pressure cleaning with surface-cleaner equipment to lift embedded dirt, tire marks, mold and mildew from the paver face and out of the joints — the organic growth that thrives in St. Petersburg’s humidity has to be removed, not sealed over.
Next the driveway dries completely, which matters more here than almost anywhere. Sealing damp brick pavers or travertine traps moisture and produces the hazy white efflorescence homeowners mistake for sealer failure. Once dry, we replace the lost joint sand and lock it into every joint, which is what stops weed growth and keeps pavers from shifting under vehicle weight.
Finally we apply a minimum of two coats of professional-grade water-based paver sealer. It deepens the color, adds UV protection against Florida sun, inhibits weed growth, and carries an algae and mold inhibitor. The sealant is environmentally safe and won’t harm surrounding landscaping or turf.
Why Paver Rescue for paver driveway sealing in St. Petersburg
- Seal ‘n Lock Certified — certified to clean, sand and seal in one day, so your driveway isn’t out of service for a week.
- Two coats minimum, always. A single thin coat looks fine on day one and burns off under Pinellas sun by the second rainy season.
- Brick pavers and travertine both. Travertine needs a different cleaning and sealing approach than concrete brick pavers, and we handle cleaning, sanding and sealing on both.
- Full resanding as standard. Joint sand replacement is part of the job, not an upsell — it’s the structural half of a driveway restoration.
- Water-based, environmentally safe sealant with UV protection and a built-in algae and mold inhibitor, chosen for humid-climate driveways.
- 5.0 stars across 369 Google reviews, with customers regularly naming owner Lucas by name.
Our paver driveway restoration process
- Free estimate. Call or email and we walk the driveway, measure square footage, and identify settling, missing sand, staining and any efflorescence already present.
- Repairs first. Sunken sections are lifted and re-leveled, damaged pavers replaced, edges re-secured before any water touches the surface.
- Deep pressure cleaning. Dirt, oil shadows, mold, mildew and algae come off the face and out of the joints. Adjacent walkways and entry areas can be cleaned at the same visit.
- Dry-down. We wait for the surface and joints to dry — the single most-skipped step, and the reason so many DIY seal jobs cloud over in St. Pete.
- Resanding. Fresh joint sand is swept in and compacted across the full driveway, including the apron and street transition where washout is worst.
- Two-plus coats of sealer. Applied evenly, edge to edge, locking the sand and bringing the color back. We’ll also handle a matching walkway or patio seal on the same St. Petersburg property if you want the whole hardscape consistent.
- Cure and walkthrough. We tell you exactly when to walk on it and when to park on it, and review maintenance for the coming rainy season.
What paver driveway sealing typically costs in St. Petersburg
Pricing is driven by square footage first, then by condition. A driveway that was sealed three years ago and just needs cleaning, sand and two coats sits at the low end. A driveway with heavy black mold, oil staining, twenty years of unsealed exposure, settled sections near the garage, or heavy efflorescence requires more labor and lands higher. Travertine typically prices differently than concrete brick pavers because of the cleaning method required.
What’s included in a restoration quote: small repairs to damaged pavers, deep pressure cleaning, full joint sand replacement, and a minimum of two coats of water-based sealant. What’s quoted separately: large-scale re-leveling, significant paver replacement where the original color is discontinued, and additional surfaces like pool decks, lanais or more extensive restoration and repair work beyond the driveway.

FAQ
How often should a paver driveway be sealed in St. Petersburg?
Coastal Florida driveways generally need resealing more often than northern ones because UV, salt air and rainy-season saturation all work against the film. Plan on a reseal cycle rather than a one-time treatment, and we’ll tell you at the walkthrough what your specific surface is showing.
What is the white haze on my pavers?
That’s efflorescence — mineral salts migrating to the surface as moisture moves through the paver. It’s extremely common here. It has to be treated during cleaning and the surface must be fully dry before sealing, or the haze gets locked under the sealer.
Can you seal travertine as well as brick pavers?
Yes. We clean, sand and seal travertine as well as concrete brick pavers, including travertine pool deck work in the north Tampa Bay area. Travertine gets a different handling than driveway brick.
Will the sealer make my driveway slippery?
A non-slip grip additive can be applied where traction matters — it’s something we’ve done on travertine pool decks, and it’s available for driveway work too. Just ask during the estimate.
Is the sealant safe for my landscaping?
Yes. We use professional-grade water-based sealants that are environmentally safe and won’t harm surrounding vegetation, while inhibiting weed growth in the joints.
Can this be done in one day?
We’re Seal ‘n Lock Certified to clean, sand and seal in one day. Weather is the variable — the surface has to dry properly, so rainy-season scheduling sometimes shifts.
