Before and after pool deck paver restoration in Lutz FL, showing dramatically refreshed color and sealed surface beside a residential pool.

A Land O Lakes pool deck takes more abuse than any other hardscape on the property. Chlorinated splash-out, pooling water from June through September, relentless UV, and constant humidity combine to fade color, wash out joint sand, and grow black mold along the shaded edges. Sunken pavers near the coping become trip hazards. Pool deck paver restoration and repair from Paver Rescue LLC resets all of it — resetting settled areas, deep cleaning, resanding, and sealing. We’re Seal ‘n Lock Certified to clean, sand, and seal in one day.

What pool deck paver restoration and repair involves

Restoration is not pressure washing. It’s a sequence, and skipping steps is why so many Pasco County decks look tired again within a season.

We start with repairs. Around a pool, settlement usually shows up where the deck meets the coping, at the skimmer, or wherever irrigation and downspouts have been quietly washing base material out from underneath. Those sections get lifted, the base re-compacted and re-leveled, and the pavers reset flush. Cracked, chipped, or permanently stained units get swapped out.

Next is deep pressure cleaning. Florida pool decks carry mold, mildew, algae, and often efflorescence — that chalky white haze that migrates to the surface as moisture moves through the paver. Cleaning has to remove the biological growth and the efflorescence, not just the surface dirt, or the sealer will lock it in permanently.

Then joint sand. Rainy season runoff and pool splash flush sand out of the joints, and empty joints let pavers rock and weeds germinate. We refill every joint to the correct depth.

Finally, a minimum of two coats of professional-grade water-based paver sealer. On brick pavers and travertine alike, that sealer restores color depth, blocks stains, adds UV protection, inhibits weed growth, and carries an algae and mold inhibitor — the part that matters most on a shaded, wet Land O Lakes deck.

Why Paver Rescue for pool deck restoration and repair

  • Seal ‘n Lock Certified — certified to clean, sand, and seal in one day, so your pool deck isn’t fenced off for a week.
  • Brick and travertine both. Travertine pool decks are common across Land O Lakes and Wesley Chapel, and they need different handling than concrete pavers. We clean, sand, and seal travertine as a specialty, and we’ve applied non-slip grip treatments to travertine pool decks where wet-surface traction was a concern.
  • Two-coat minimum sealer, always. One coat on a Florida pool deck is a one-season answer. Two coats is the standard on every job.
  • Environmentally safe water-based sealant that won’t harm the landscaping, turf, or plant beds bordering your pool cage.
  • Repair before seal, never after. Sealing over sunken pavers, hollow joints, or trapped efflorescence just preserves the problem in gloss.
  • 5.0 stars across 369 Google reviews, with hundreds more on Facebook.

Our pool deck paver restoration process

  1. Free on-site estimate. We walk the deck with you, identify settlement, failed joints, staining, efflorescence, and any prior sealer that needs addressing, and price the job in writing.
  2. Repairs and resetting. Sunken and lifted sections come up, the base is re-compacted and graded to drain away from the pool, and pavers go back flush. Damaged units are replaced.
  3. Deep pressure cleaning. Full surface clean to strip dirt, mold, mildew, algae, and organic staining from the pavers and out of the joints.
  4. Efflorescence treatment. Where that white mineral haze is present, it gets addressed before any sealer touches the surface.
  5. Resanding. Fresh joint sand swept and settled into every joint to lock the field and stop weed growth.
  6. Sealing. A minimum of two coats of professional-grade water-based sealer, applied when the deck is fully dry and the weather window is clear.
  7. Cure and walkthrough. We tell you exactly when to walk it, when to reintroduce furniture, and when swimming resumes.

The same sequence underpins our paver restoration and repair work throughout Tampa, scaled to whatever your deck needs.

What pool deck paver restoration typically costs

Estimates range based on deck square footage, how much repair and resetting is required, the paver material, and the condition of the surface when we arrive. A travertine deck with a few settled sections and moderate mold prices very differently than a large brick paver deck with widespread sinking, heavy efflorescence, and a failed prior sealer that has to be dealt with first.

What raises cost: extensive base repair, replacement pavers, heavy efflorescence, stubborn organic staining, and optional non-slip additive. What lowers it: a deck that’s structurally sound and simply needs cleaning, resanding, and sealing, or bundling the pool deck with adjacent walkways, a lanai, or the driveway in one visit.

Every quote includes repairs, deep cleaning, resanding, and a minimum of two sealer coats — no line-item surprises. We’re currently running $50 off paver sealing, we offer free estimates, and we accept all credit cards. Call for a no-cost walkthrough of your Land O Lakes deck.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a Land O Lakes pool deck be resealed?
Most Pasco County pool decks need resealing every two to three years. Constant sun, pool chemistry, and rainy-season saturation wear sealer faster than on a shaded patio. If water no longer beads and the color looks flat, it’s time.

What is the white chalky film on my pool deck pavers?
Efflorescence — mineral salts pushed to the surface by moisture moving through the paver. It’s extremely common in Florida’s humidity and near pools. It has to be removed before sealing, or the sealer traps it under the finish.

Can you fix sunken pavers around the pool coping without redoing the whole deck?
Yes. We lift the affected sections, re-compact and re-level the base, and reset the existing pavers. Spot repair is standard on restoration jobs and is far less expensive than a full pool deck paver installation in Land O Lakes.

Will sealer make my pool deck slippery?
Water-based sealers are the right choice around water for exactly this reason, and a non-slip grip additive can be included where extra traction is wanted — we’ve done this on travertine pool decks.

Do you restore travertine pool decks, or only brick pavers?
Both. Cleaning, sanding, and sealing travertine is one of our specialties, and travertine requires gentler cleaning pressure and different sealer handling than concrete brick pavers.

How soon can we swim again?
We give you exact cure timing at the walkthrough. Because we’re certified to clean, sand, and seal in one day, most decks are back in service quickly — weather permitting, since sealer needs a dry window.
